The station is only about 5 kilometers from the center of town. Hopping on the M metro line will get you to the very center of the city within 12 minutes.

All toilets in the station have disability access, while the platforms also have step-free access, to get from the metro stop to the station, there are only stairs, so beware!

Many clothes, health, accessory, and beauty stores are on the ground and second floor of the Galleria Vetrata. There are plenty of restaurants and cafes around, too, serving simple Italian food, coffee, and ice cream.

If you travel by train (and it only costs €8 to book in advance), a train can be taken between Rome Fiumicino and Tiburtina, which takes around 50 minutes.

Tiburtina Station was originally built in 1866, but it underwent a significant renovation and expansion in the 2000s after a major fire in 2011. This resulted in a much more modern and spacious station that handles around 300,000 daily travelers and has 21 interlinked railway lines. It’s located in the Tiburtino district of Rome, which is known for its residential neighborhoods and shopping centers. The station is well connected to the rest of the city by buses, trams, and the Metro Line B. In addition to trains, Tiburtina Station is also a major bus terminal, serving both local and international buses. Many bus companies operate from Tiburtina Station, offering connections to cities throughout Italy and Europe as well as Rome’s airports. Beside the station, the Porta Tiburtina is a pretty impressive Ancient Roman arch over the original road. There are also some beautiful churches in the area, such as San Lorenzo fuori le mura. Nearby areas worth exploring include the Pigneto neighborhood, known for its trendy bars and restaurants, and the San Lorenzo neighborhood, home to the historic Verano Cemetery and the La Sapienza University. The Colosseum and other major attractions in the city center are also easily accessible from Tiburtina by public transportation.
